General
- Parkmarkr is a free mobile app that automatically detects and remembers which level you parked on at an HDB multi-storey carpark in Singapore. No manual entry needed — it works quietly in the background.
- Parkmarkr is designed specifically for HDB multi-storey carparks (MSCP) in Singapore. It does not currently support underground carparks, single-level carparks, or commercial carparks.
- Yes, Parkmarkr is completely free to download and use. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no hidden fees.
- Yes. Parkmarkr is available on both Android and iOS.
- No. Parkmarkr works entirely offline. You do not need a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection for it to work.
- No account is required. Just download the app, complete the one-time setup, and you're ready to go.
Setup & Compatibility
- Parkmarkr requires certain hardware that is present in most modern smartphones. If your device is not compatible, the app will inform you during setup. Unfortunately, it cannot work on that device.
- Setup typically takes 5–10 minutes. You'll need to be physically at your carpark to complete it, as some steps involve driving through the entrance and up to the top level.
- If you start parking at a different carpark, you'll need to run setup again for the new one. You can have multiple carparks set up at the same time.
- Yes. The "Always" location permission is required so the app can detect when you arrive at your carpark even when the app is not open. Your live location is processed on your device only — it is never uploaded. With your consent (defaults on; opt-out anytime in Settings), an anonymous summary of each carpark visit may be uploaded — nothing identifies you. See our privacy policy for full details.
- Yes, we recommend allowing it. Without this, some phones — particularly Samsung — may shut down Parkmarkr's background process to save power, which can cause missed detections. Allowing unrestricted battery usage keeps the app reliably active in the background. If you skipped it, you can change this any time in Settings → Apps → Parkmarkr → Battery → Unrestricted.
- The notification is how Parkmarkr stays active in the background. As long as you see "Parkmarkr is on", the app can detect when you park and save the location. Please don't swipe it away — if you dismiss the notification, your phone may stop the app, and the next time you park nothing will be saved. We've made the notification as quiet as possible: no sound, no vibration, hidden from the lock screen, and tucked into the silent notifications section at the bottom of your notification list. It just needs to remain visible there for Parkmarkr to keep working.
Detection & Accuracy
- A few things can cause a missed detection: the session may have timed out if you took longer than usual to park, or you may have been too close to another recent session. You can always add a record manually using the "Add manually" button on the home screen.
- Tap the thumb down button on the home screen and select "Wrong level". You can then correct it to the right level. Each correction helps Parkmarkr improve accuracy over time.
- Yes. Every time you confirm (thumb up) or correct (thumb down) a detection, Parkmarkr learns more about your carpark. After a few sessions, accuracy noticeably improves.
- This can occasionally happen due to changes in atmospheric conditions. Try re-running setup to refresh the carpark readings. The setup flow will pre-fill everything you've already entered, so you only need to redo the physical capture steps.
- Parkmarkr has a built-in cooldown after each session to prevent false detections. If you return to the carpark shortly after leaving, you can clear the active cooldown from the home screen, or use the manual "At entrance" trigger to start a new session immediately.
- If your home is near your carpark, the app may briefly activate background detection when you return home after parking. A built-in Session cooldown prevents this by pausing detection for a set period after each park — the default is 4 hours. You can change the duration any time in Settings → Session cooldown. If you need the app to detect a second trip sooner, lower the duration, clear the active cooldown from the home screen, or use the manual "At entrance" trigger to start a session immediately.
Privacy & Data
- Parkmarkr does not have its own servers and never sends your data to us. Your parking history, photos, carpark setup, and location information stay on your device. On Android, your carpark setup and parking history are automatically backed up to your Google account as part of Android's standard app backup — the same way your other apps back up their data. You can disable this in your Google account settings if preferred.
- Yes. You can delete individual parking records, clear your entire history, or clear your My Parking Spot photos and notes at any time from within the app.
- On Android, your carpark setup and parking history are automatically restored from your Google account backup when you reinstall the app or set up a new phone — no need to repeat setup. On iPhone, the same applies via iCloud backup. My Parking Spot photos are not restored as they are stored as files on your device, not in the backup.
